Buschwindroeschen Anemone Beech Forest Ostsee Baltic Germany 13

Wood anemone (Anemone nemorosa; Ranunculaceae) can be found in the thousands in the understory of northern German beech forests. On sunny days, the 2cm wide flowers of these perennial herbs track the incoming rays of sunlight and present themselves from their best side.

Jasmund White Cliffs Kreidefelsen National Park Ruegen Ostsee Baltic Germany 12

Upon arriving at the white cliffs of Jasmund, we were privy to a beautiful scene: due to recent large-scale erosion, a great deal of chalk was suspended in the water. The current had mixed the deep blue waters from the open sea with the white coastal waters to fascinating spiral patterns.
